In Kontact there should be provision to backup & restore -
- Contacts - Email account settings - Emails - Appointments - To-do - Notes etc. |

I think after connecting Kontact to Akonadi this should be done by Akonadi. There might be a lot of possibilities to Backup and Restore there. (Other PCs, Phones, the Database itself, export to filesystem, ...)

Why not system-wide backup & restore? (Nepomuk, Akonadi etc.)

If this backup-service has the ability to integrate with different cloud services like Google's it would become a wonderfully handy setup.

I agree that this should be done ASAP. I've used both Evolution and Kontact on KUbuntu and love the features of KMail much more than Evolution...except that Evolution lets me easily backup and restore and KMail does not. I've been searching for several weeks now for ANY GUI backup software that would make the task easier, but without much success. One sort of related desire is to be able to "delete emails from server when they are emptied from the trash folder" for pop3 accounts. Arthur |
