Tree, or categories, for "Places"

Tue Jul 27, 2010 2:54 pm
Like many web developers / site administrators, I have many resources I must connect to on a very frequent basis. The "Places" shortcut is an invaluable tool to manage all those sites.

However, after having 20+ of those, dolphin + the open/save dialogs are getting very crowded and it's getting harder and harder to use.

Depending on my current task, some of those sites could be disabled or left hidden, which is why I propose to have collapsible categories (a tree-view, basically) for the places.

Visually I believe a +/- tree-like view is not really friendly which is why I would instead propose clickable category headers that would show / hide the children places (slide-up / slide-down effect)
