Thanks for your interest in Kivo.

It's still not sure when Kivio will be released. It depends on someone doing the work to get it ready for release. There has been some interest lately, but not much happened so far.

Kivio is ported to KDE 4, but missing some features that are needed to make is useful. I have written about the current state here: http://slangkamp.wordpress.com/2009/07/ ... -of-kivio/

That's no problem, many of the current KOffice developers have learned C++ while developing KOffice.

First step would be to build KOffice. There is a description for that: http://wiki.koffice.org/index.php?title ... ng_KOffice
If you have questions you can ask them in the KOffice IRC channel (#koffice on freenode)

You aren't limited to a specific tool KDevelop, Qt Creator, vim etc work.

I don't think there is a tool that the majority uses. Some use KDevelop or vim. I'm using Qt Creator for editing, but do most of the compiling and debugging on the console.

You don't need KDevelop to build KOffice.

There is a basic description http://wiki.koffice.org/index.php?title ... h_KDevelop
I don't know if someone is using KDevelop for everything, so can't say how to setup that.

How is the current state of Kivio?

So far the only use that I have for a VM machine with XP is for Visio...

OpenOffice Draw just doesn't cut it...

I'm working on it. But I cannot give a timetable for I'm inexperienced in KDE development, it takes time to learn.

What happened ?, I made a .flw file, see , here's the output http://gcirc.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/gcirc1.jpg
I now upgrade to mythbuntu. synaptec and generally everything works much better now, everything is fab. oh!, but I now need to edit the flowchart, er, Kivio has vanished. I cant even find the source in some vain attempt to compile it.
It didnt arrive with koffice and when I go to theKompany it wants a password.
All I want to do is escape with my flw file to something else that I can carry on drawing with.
The version I was using was perfectly usable. I'd have liked a "click this button to neaten up your flowchart" option, but hey, who the hell uses flowcharts anyway ....
Where can I get something that will eat a flw file and make something usable with dia or gimp or anything ?.
