Can anyone tell me how to underline text in Kword 2.1?

A slightly facetious response: open a file in KWord 2.1 and enter some text, save it. Open the same file in OpenOffice and you will find that everything is underlined. If you remove the underlining and save it in OpenOffice, it is gone when you reopen the file in KWord. This suggests there is a bug in the way underlining is handled but as I don't normally use underlining (because it was introduced, in imitation of typesetting practice, into early computer programs to indicate/substitute for italic), I have never tried to use it in KWord.

Hilarious, but not reproducible on my end. I opened it in OO.o and the formatting was identical; no underlining. |

I'm an idiot. there's an underline button. I use underlining so seldom I didn't realize what it was.
