I read that kword indeed works well with doc and docx. But every time i try to import , system hangs and they draw up endless blank pages and continue to do so if i dont terminate the program .

i use fedora kde 4.4.5 koffice 2.2.1

Do i need more dependencies or i am doing it wrong? help please..

edit:just realised that my system hangs like crazy ,opened a 10 page .doc . System hangs ,other documents i was trying to open contain more pages.

It will certainly open simple documents without any problems but I have found it has trouble with documents containing images and, I think, tables.

yes the ones with tables take eternity to open, some of them dont even open. Whereas openoffice handles them fine. I want to use less of openoffice, and i am just waiting for koffice to get better.

has anyone had a better experience with doc or docx with tables and images.?
