mail merge should work in Kword but when I click on Tools menu there are NO references to mail merge at all, or on any other menu for that matter.

Mail merge is something I very much need in a word processor, I just wondered am I missing something? The version of Kword I have is 2.2.2 Am I missing a module or can something be added to Kword so that mail merge works?

It really looks like a great office suite, but desperately need mail merge!

I think that the link you have given provides the HOWTO on mailmerge for KOffice 1.6 series, but not 2.X series. As far as I remember there is no mailmerge in latest stable versions of KOffice (2.2.2).

I think you could dig to check if this feature exists in 2.2.2 here: http://wiki.koffice.org/index.php?title=Schedules

zinchenko is right, KWord2 is not yet at feature parity of KWord1.x and the feauture you are refering to is mentioned here; http://bugs.kde.org/244644
