Can't compile KOffice 2.0 Beta 2

Thu Oct 23, 2008 8:30 pm
I'm currently on Kubuntu Intrepid. The KOffice 2.0 repository listed on the Kubuntu web site apparently doesn't work, so I'm trying to compile KOffice 2.0 Beta 2 on my own.

When I go to "make install", it gets just about done and then throws this up:

Install the project...
-- Install configuration: "Debugfull"
-- Up-to-date: /home/icewolf/Desktop/koffice-build/include/config-openexr.h
CMake Error at libs/store/cmake_install.cmake:42 (FILE):
file INSTALL cannot find file
"/home/icewolf/Desktop/koffice-build/lib/libkostore.so.5.0.0" to install.
Call Stack (most recent call first):
libs/cmake_install.cmake:37 (INCLUDE)
cmake_install.cmake:41 (INCLUDE)

make: *** [install] Error 1

What can I do to resolve this?

Try to read this http://wiki.koffice.org/index.php?title=Build_KOffice

That's what I followed. Once I downloaded the source code, I opened up the Readme file and followed the link. Everything up to the "make install" works fine, but I'm stuck at that.

I couldn't get krita to compile so I disabled that from my build yesterday. Krita was built almost at the end. Try changing that build to no. At least you'll have the rest.

Now if krita was the reason for installing it for you, can't help you.

You can try to join #koffice at irc.freenode.net.Devs are around and can help you more.

For Krita you need Eigen2 from kdesupport to compile. You will find it in svn.
Try to turn off krita and you will see.

type "ccmake ." in build directory directory and turn off what you don't want to compile.

not that i am familiar with this issue, but it would look like its not finding your openexr headers. have you installed and compiled that dependency yet ?

because it seems to be stubmling on a missing file in your build I would guess that the compile has actually failed somewhere. Grep the whole build log for "error:"

BTW I have been able to build successfully on same platform as you but I followed different instructions: http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Build/KDE4

I also got given this link http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started ... esvn-build which would have been good to follow if I hadn't already followed the first. (see showthread.php?tid=9345)

Not sure if you want to go to that much trouble though.
IMHO koffice is pretty buggy. Grab it if you want to help document or fix bugs... develop or just to play. But not to use seriously.
