Since we have topics like How to integrate Firefox into KDE and How to integrate Opera into KDE 4, now its time for quick Google Chrome/Chromium how-to.

1. Picking up gtk theme, which will make Google Chrome/Chromium options menu KDE native. I'm suggesting you to try oxygen-gtk by Hugo.

2. Sorting out Google Chrome/Chromium's theme. Maybe the best ATM is Krome theme by Gefarion. Archive contains 3 color types - Oxygen, Oxygen Cold and Obsidian Coast.

3. Changing Google Chrome/Chromium's radial gradient from window border with solid color. To do this right click on your Chrome/Chromium window border -> select "Configure Window Behavior" -> choose "Window Decorations" -> "Configure Decoration" -> go to "Window-Specific Overrides" tab and choose "Add" -> click on "Detect Window Properties" and then somewhere on your Chrome/Chromium window. Tick up "Background style" and change it to "Solid Color".

4. Making quick fix for bg color by adjusting it from System Settings -> Application Appearance -> Colors -> Colors -> Window background

5. Changing Google Chrome/Chromium scrollbar to oxygen-like. You just need to install Oxychrome scrollbar from Oxychrome pack by Atermoon.

Thank you so much for posting this. I am a newbie here and need all the help I can get. I am a fan of Chrome ever since it came out, and I'm not planning to go back in using Firefox. Thanks.

I think at least in the dev channel Chromium, it now uses KDE Wallet to store its passwords. I only need a bookmarks integration to KDE so I can access my bookmarks from within kde (krunner or netbook shell) and then it‘d rock :)

Thanks for the tutorial. I prefer Chrome, but have been using Firefox lately. I think now I'll make the switch :)

I tried Chrome and it messed everything up for me. I'm back to Firefox. Should I give Chrome another try?

I love Chrome but it does have some idiosyncrasies on some forms, particularly on calendar popups. They seem to jump around all over the place. Don't ask me why. I've thought about switching to Firefox becasue of its enhanced SEO capability but it's too slow for me, even on a Mac

I start using google chrome 2 months ago. The think that I like using google chrome are: Less CPU usage, Fast, Easy Installation,The combined search box and the URL box is really catchy, Chrome uses a platform to run the browser which minimises the need of OS.

would this maybe be interesting?

Plasma runner that searches in Chromium/Chrome's bookmarks. Ideal for all kde users that surf the net with Chrome/Chromium that now is a little more integrated with KDE.

Haven't tried it since I look for the oposite - chromium saving bookmars into kde. Would be nice to have tagging and which activity it was recorded in too.

The author of that may want to integrate it as a patch into the existing Firefox/Opera/Konqueror bookmarks runner.
