Dell Canvas and Krita

Tue Aug 15, 2017 9:35 pm
Hey all!

I'm planning on buying a Dell Canvas soon (because it is cheaper than a Wacom Cintiq and it is very close to Wacom's and really seems to be a great digital canvas...)
But does Krita work with Dell Canvas? ???
I believe it should work since Dell Canvas has Wacom technology in the stylus pen pressure and Krita works fine with Windows 10, but has anyone tested it yet?

I will keep using Krita to further study animation and genereal drawing/painting, so if Krita is not yet compatible with Dell canvas I may probably wait a little longer to buy it until krita is compatible. (or as long as I can endure use an Intuos for animation)

I've been using Krita on my desktop Windows 10 for about 10 months now, to study traditional animation and I would like to thank you all for making such a great open source software! ;D I've been recommending it to everyone that asks me about a cheap/free good software for traditional animation.

The animation part of Krita still have some minor bugs or improvments to be made, for sure, but I'll leave that to other topic.

If it isn't compatible (which would be strange, since wacom is wacom, mostly), then waiting won't make Krita magicallly compatible. We don't have the resources to buy all kinds of hardware, and if we had, we don't have the people to implement workarounds for weird tablets. The rule is, if it has a wintab driver, it should be compatible, and if it isn't it is _always_ the driver's fault. We've never seen an issue that wasn't the driver's fault.

Do you studying at the art uni or just learning by yourself? I'm curious, cause my uni makes me cry with dozens of assignments(

Hi!

I know this is a late response, but to those who are new and have this question, the answer is YES!!! It works flawlessly, and I couldn't be happier with the program. I have installed a bunch of different art programs, including Corel Painter, and honestly, Krita wins by a landslide. It's way less buggy than Corel, the brush technology is fantastic, and the combination of the Dell Canvas stylus, the screen, and Krita makes for a perfect, uninterrupted workflow.

I am working off of a pretty standard Lenovo, no fancy additions or upgrades to increase performance, and I think that's part of the reason Corel has such a hard time - Krita features everything I want and need, and works flawlessly with my hardware.

So yes!!!! Use the AMAZING Dell Canvas, and USE KRITA!!!!!! All the features are compatible, and you get the full benefit of Dell's technology with Krita's interface.

Hope you gave it a try, and hope those of you who read this follow suit!

Hi,
I bought a Dell Canvas 27 and it doesn't work well with Krita...
The button on the side of the stylus doesn't work correctly and the tilt just doesn't work.
I only work with Krita. I think I'm going to send back the tablet to Dell.
