Stage Audio Effects

Fri Jan 20, 2017 9:07 pm
Hi,

unfortunatly I've got a Problem, which must be solved quickly :-\

I created the presentation for my graduation with calligra stage on windows.

I really like the customization, that's possible, but i can't figure out, how to add Sound effects to animations.

In the Animation Options for an element, i imported a wave and mp3 file, but unfortunatly there isn't any Sound :'(
I'm sure, it's not calligras, but my fault. Can anybody explain how to add sounds?

Would be cool, if you could help me out, before i Need to present it next week.

Thank you!

Have you imported the sound via the combo box below the caption "Shape Click Actions"?
Then the sound should play when you click on the element during the presentation, independent of the actual animations of that element.

That's exactly what I've done, but there isn't any sound...

Now, that I've got a beamer, I ran into another Problem.

I get Calligra in Presentation mode to run either on the beamer or the Laptop. As soon, as i check the presenter view, the presentation won't start.
I guess presenter view is the Thing like in MS PowerPoint, when the presenter can see a preview of the next page on the pc. Would be cool if this would run too.

Unfortunatly the presentation is not 100% compatible with Apache OpenOffice :'(
Otherwise I would use this instead.

Hm I'm not sure if your issues are related to windows or your specific system, for me audio and presentation mode do work. I'm no expert anyway, so I can only offer you some poor workarounds :/

For the audio problem:
If you insert a video object into your presentation, you can also load an audio file into it. If you click the video shape during the presentation, a black (as there is no real video) full-screen-view should appear and the sound should play. Probably not the most elegant way, and I can't promise that it'll work on your system regarding the issues you mentioned.
If you have media keys on your Laptop that can trigger a media player of your choice during the presentation, you could open that media player with the file(s) you want and pause it before the presentation. During the presentation you can press the play button when you want the sound to play.
If the audio files aren't related to the content and only intended as effects, it's probably better to leave it out at all as it might distract the viewers or seem unserious.

For the beamer problem:
Does it at least work if you set up your laptop to mirror its screen to the beamer and run the presentation in non-presenter-view?
Alternatively, if there are no animations in your presentation, you could export it to a PDF-file (or print it with a virtual PDF-printer). Then you could open it with some PDF-reader that has got a presentation mode.

Beamer: Copy Screen seems to be a issue with the Laptop. The beamer turns off then. But this Option works on my Desktop PC. My Dekstop PC runs another Windows Version. There, presenter view crashes Calligra too. I tried 2.9.0 - 2.9.6 (All compiled Windows-Versions i could find on the ftp.).

I think the best way would be: take Screenshots of the one-screen-presentation and copy the Pictures into AOO or 30-Day MS PP Trial.
Hope the Quality won't be that bad.

Unfortunatly I'm not allowed to install BSD or Linux on the Laptop and i wasn't able to get the second Screen (beamer) working on Ubuntu in Virutal Box.

I really want to try out more Workarounds, but the time pressure gets high.. :-\

Can I somehow print to a high Resolution bmp or some other Picture format from Calligra itself?
I tried converters, but they use OpenOffice. I know it, because in AOO, the Document have the same Errors as in the Pictures.

You could export the presentation to PDF (File->Export as PDF) and then use a online PDF to PNG converter or something similar.
Maybe the PDF can also be imported into another presentation application, but the formatting may get messed up then.

Puh. That helped me out a bit.

What I've done: Export as PDF --> Convert PDF to BMPs --> Cut the white Edges with Paint.NET

~3500 x 2200 Pixels

Great. Regarding the few animations. I better download MS PP trial :-/ But at least 90% is ready to use without much editing.
I just wanted to settle to a free OS and saw that Calligra is out for Windows and that OS, so I used Calligra,

It's really a great tool with all it functions and superseeds MS PP with its customization possibilities, in my opinion.
But when the presentation feature doesn't work in the Windows-"Port" on 2 endependend Windows PCs with different OS's... It's kind of useless then.
(And, Yes, I know windows is not the primary platform for KDE ^^)

Next time I better test the features first, before I do my final graduation presentation in it.

Well, sebpe, I appreciated your help!

Thank You
