last build (2.16.0) in PPA failed, so I stuck on version 2.15.2 on one of my machines. Should I wait for 2.17.0 in xenial PPA or just leave it and upgrade distro (which I'd rather not)?
What I'm afraid of is *.skg file format change and thus cutting myself off on this machine while previously worked on it at different machine (with newer version of skrooge).
Also can you explain if it is possible to find out if the file will be changed in used version od skrooge or not. I mean before opening to avoid any problems?

xenial doesn't have the expected requirements to be able to build the last version of Skrooge.
So, you can not expect to have updates on xenial.
Only, Comic and Bionic will have updates.
When the file format change, you are informed by a message saying "The document has been migrated".
