Quest for ideas: how to track pension scheme contribution?

Hi all,

Maybe a little off topic since it is not a specific problem or issue with Skrooge but something I would like to do but don't know how.

Part of my salary is a contribution to a pension scheme, and I would like to track it. But the problem is that I am not actually purchasing a given amount of shares every month. If that would be the situation I can set a 'buy shares' transaction every month and then track the value of each share in the "units" section. But it is not. I know that I am being deducted a certain amount of my salary and it is put into sort of a bucket. I know how much I put in that bucket every month, and how much that bucket is worth as a whole, but can not relate contributions to current value.

Not sure if I explained well myself or I messed up everything ;D

If you understood the situation, any idea on how to handle it?

Thanks!
JM

Hi,

Did you try this?
1-Create an account named "bucket"
2- Each month
2.1- Create an operation for your salary with a split for the part transferred to the "bucket"
2.2- Create an operation in "bucket" for the incomes
2.3- Group the 2 operations created to keep that they are linked
3- When some shared are bought, do it from "bucket" account

Stéphane

Steps 1 to 2.3 are clear, and it is what I am doing (remember that I asked for an easy way to include transfers in a split operation?).

The problem is with step 3 because there are no shares bought (of course there are, but there is no way to know). The whole scheme is a black box for me, so I can only see the current global value. This is what I don't know how to truck.

Thanks
