Skrooge Skripting?

Fri Mar 25, 2011 6:04 am
I am wanting to write a script/utility that will run from the command line and return the balance of either a specific account or all accounts. When I look at the Skrooge API page it is more or less blank. Is there another place I can find help for this that I am missing? Or perhaps the API page is blank because there isn't one and this is not possible?

Hi,

I am the main developer of Skrooge.
I will do a delivery today to repair (I hope) the skrooge API page.

In any case, in this page, you will find documentation for C++ api.
If you want to get information from a skrooge document in command line, you will have to develop your own tool for that. This is not so easy and need compilation/build etc.

An other solution is existing: qdbus or qdbusviewer (gui)
Try "qdbus org.skrooge" (You have to launch skrooge before).
By using qdbus, you are able to do actions in skrooge from a command line.

It's not yet possible to get amount of account, I will add it for you.

How about that for service? That would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much. i don't know when i will be able to get around to doing what I have in mind, but I will pass it along to you when it is done and you can do with it as you please. Thanks a ton for an excellent and very useful program!

Hi,

The C++ documentation is now correct:
http://api.kde.org/extragear-api/office-apidocs/skrooge-git/html/index.html

I am still working on qdbus functionalities.
I will let you informed.

I will have to look into qdbus, I have never used it before. I'll read up on that this week, thanks. Thanks also for the documentation update. Between those two things, I'll be occupied for a bit.

I use Skrooge for all of my various accounts and love it. What I was hoping to add, in the most basic terms, is the ability to email a designated account a message that says something like "Balance Visa" and a passphrase, Kmail's filter will pick it up and execute a script [which will in turn have to call a program, from what you said] which then gets the balance from Skrooge and emails or text messages it back to me on my mobile. Naturally, it would never be that easy, but the only hard part really would be interacting with Skrooge I think. Here's to hoping.

I had hoped it would be a matter of querying a database for the balance, but I knew better than that :-P
