Skrooge kmymoney export

Sat Jun 11, 2011 6:01 pm
Hi all,
I just started using Skrooge and loaded some months worth of transactions. Unfortunately, I've found that I wanted to do some things that work better in Kmymoney (shares, etc.). No problem, I thought, Skrooge has a Kmymoney export. Unfortunately, the file generated by this export seems to be a cvs file, while kmymoney uses a zipped xml file. I tried QIF export, but that one would make Kmymoney loop while importing, presenting over and over an "invalid account" pop-up. Anyone has any idea on how to properly export data from Skrooge into Kmymoney?
I am running kubuntu natty X64, and Skrooge 0.90 and Kmymoney 4.5.3.

Hi,

Skrooge is able to export KMyMoney file.
You just have to click on "Export" and choose a file name ending with .kmy, example: myexport.kmy.

Then KmyMoney should be able to open it without import.

Thanks, it seems that the first time I selected kmymoney as the export format in the dropdown, but didn't select an extension, so it was exported as csv text only. Now I was able to open it in kmymoney.

Hi,

I am the main developer of Skrooge and I would like to know what is better in KMyMoney concerning shares ?

Could you detail what is missing in Skrooge ?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,
I think mostly it is that I am more used to kmymoney (having used it previously). On Skrooge I couldn't find how to add the existing shares, link them to a ticker, that kind of thing.
There is one thing I haven't yet found how to do also in kmymoney, which is how to manage share rights - one of the companies I have shares is going through a capital increase phase, and I have already credited the rights for the new shares, but still with a fictitious price, and I don't know how to handle that.
I also like kmymoney reports. :) I see you guys have a budget report, which might be exactly what I need, as soon as I have the time to use it.
