Hi,
OK, I'm struggling here, I feel the answer must be staring me in the face, I just don't see it! How do I clear the 'Quick Extract To...' history in Ark (V2.17/KDE V4.7.4) don't seem to be able to find the way to do it, tried looking in arkrc and it's not stored there. Better still, is there a way to disable the history. |

On my system arkrc contains a section "[Recent Files]" which does contain a list of recently opened archives. Please double check - as they should be present in that file.

Thanks.
There is a section [Recent Files]. However this only contains the files that appear under "File > Open Recent" and can be cleared from within ark "File > Open Recent > Clear List" The list that I am trying to clear is under "Action > Extract - Quick Extract Too.." This list is populated when "Action > Extract > Extract To" is used, however, the contents of this list do not appear in arkrc. Edit: OK, I have now found this is being stored in ".kde/share/config/kdeglobals" under "[DirSelect Dialog] History Items[$e]=" So I guess the question now changes to: Apart from editing kdeglobals is there a way to clear this list, or to prevent the history from being created in the first place. |

Thanks! You must have posted as I was editing my post
![]() Yes, indeed, that is where the list is stored. So, again, I guess the question now changes to: Apart from editing kdeglobals is there a way to clear this list, or to prevent the history from being created in the first place. |

there does not appear to be anyway to clear this other than editing the kdeglobals file

Please be careful when editing the kdeglobals configuration file. As it's name states it is utilised by all KDE applications globally. It should be safe to delete that entire section however.

Yes, I realise this contains global settings. Thanks for the warning though. |
