How to mount new microSD card?

Sat Nov 10, 2018 6:53 pm
I am running KDE Neon from EMMC on my new Pinebook.

I want to add a new microSD card for added storage.

I inserted the card and opened Dolphin. The new card shows as "60.0 GiB Removable Media", and "/dev/mmcblk1p1", but Dolphin can't mount it.

I suspect I need to format the new card, but how?

I have searched here and elsewhere on the Web, but haven't found an answer.

How do I format and mount a new microSD card?

How are you connecting your card ?

If you are connecting it through a usb card reader the 'lsusb' command should show it:

example:
Code: Select all
$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 009: ID 058f:6366 Alcor Micro Corp. Multi Flash Reader

The blkid command should show the format:

Code: Select all
$ sudo blkid
/dev/sde1: UUID="0A27-4AD9" TYPE="vfat"

If the card is unformated then you could format it with the KDE partition manager: https://www.kde.org/applications/system ... onmanager/

You could try to mount the card with the mount command:

example:
Code: Select all
$ sudo mount /dev/sde1 /media/usbmountpoint

The mount command should show error messages if the mounting is not possible.

@Rog131 - Thank you for the reply.

In answer to your first question, I inserted the microSD card into the Pinebook's microSD reader slot.
