Hi,

today I installed a new system (Debian testing) on my laptop and kdenlive 0.9.6 from repository. And I have a problem with the stability of the program. I download this video from YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRA5H1LYzM4 and later I wanted use the stabilize option (vstab). Kdenlive crash when I use stabilize option (vstab), exactly when the process is finished. The second time Kdenlive crash when I added a file to the project tree and then dropped it on the timeline. But here i have log file: http://goo.gl/iIwLuj
Third time Kdenlive crash when i render video from YT in terminal: http://goo.gl/1QY5c4 There was a very large consumption of RAM.
Earlier I used Kdenlive 0.9.2 and I had so many errors. I hope this information will be useful for developers.

In the cases that I have stability issues, I usually try to give the NLE uncompressed (or mostly uncompressed, anyway). So if the file you downloaded from youtube was an .webm or a .mp4 or an .flv, take it to ffmpeg and convert it to something that will require Kdenlive to do less intervention to understand where all the frames are. I have not messed around much with the stabilization effects in Kdenlive, so I don't have experience with that directly, but try something like

ffmpeg -i youtubevideo.mp4 -v:b 10000k -vcodec huffyuv youtubevideo.avi

Import the result (youtubevideo.avi) into your project and try your effect on it.

In generaly, I try to avoid working on pre-compressed footage. But obviously with found-footage projects that's not always possible.
