merging two .kdenlive files

Sun Aug 03, 2014 10:03 am
Hi

I have built up a video file "main_production.kdenlive" with lots of work.

Becasue "main_production" tracks are so busy, It was necessary to work on some new transitions, to prototype them, in a different kdenlive file "overlapping_intro_pngs.kdenlive". This intro work file is now complete.

How do I bring file "overlapping_intro_pngs.kdenlive" into the end of the timeline of "main_production.kdenlive" file ?

Thanks

ps don't want to have to make a written list of all the timings and repeat the work ... ! :)

Try importing the .kdenlive file into the Project Tree as a clip (use Add Clip). You can then add this to the timeline

Hi,

Thank you for your reply :)

Importing as a clip did not work. I could see bits of it though it made nonsense. Any further ideas ?

Thanks :)

Hello,

You can drop mlt files in project manager like any video clip, and kdenlive docs are in this format...
But you should first disable proxies in the subproject or main project would render with those low quality media...
or you can generate a clean mlt file by running an export through script and picking the output mlt in scripts/ folder.

I also have a work-in-progress to copy/paste between 2 kdenlive windows, that would be the best, but for the moment it is incomplete (only AV clips, no effects and transitions) and unstable. If you really need it I might share that branch and you compile it...

BR,

Vincent
