New Ui for Br-Print3D

Fri Jan 15, 2016 1:49 pm
Hi guys, good morning!
I'm planning submit the Br-Print3D to Google Summer of Code in this year. And my idea is develop a new UI for this project.
We already have a ideia of prototype. But I don't have any skills of UI designer. I have a designer on my team, but a second and third opinion is not bad at all =D
The main idea is starting use QtQuick and QML, to create a fluid and clean UI.
So, if you wanna help us or give me some tips about ui design, I would stay very happy ;D
On this post you can find the image of the prototype that we have.
https://brprint3d.wordpress.com/2016/01/14/br-print3d-on-google-summer-of-code/
Also, I will search on google about papers or books about ui design, but I would aprecciate some tips about readings too.
Its hard be new on all this, but the victory is always moving on =D
Thanks!
Lays Rodrigues

You may want to read Getting Started from the KDE HIG https://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Usability/HIG. Probably you are interested in the organization but I'd ask first for the concept. The screenshot looks quite finished and similar to some kind of drawing application. But I don't want to guess from a screenshot. Very conspicuous are the icons that are not from the Breeze theme - not my field of expertise however. Andreas, Uri?

That screenshot is only a design made on Inkscape.
I need to start learning QtQuick and Qml to start develop this Ui.
But Thanks for the tip. =D

Hi laysrodrigues

thanks for your request here. I had a lot experience in CAD in the past but I'm not familiar with 3D plotters and I don't know how Br-Print3D work. In my mind I thought you design something with an CAD software and than you load the model in the printer software and define the different materials like you do it with Finite Element Applications.

About the icon you get what you need please ask here.

I would prefer to define the vision, what do you want to be, ... than we can start with design examples. About QML and QtQuick I don't care, cause qml is for mobile UIs and mobile apps are ordinary for view something and you will make postprocessing so no need to have Br-Print3D on the phone.

Sorry that I can't help. But I hope that we can work together.

Wow. But that's the problem with pixel-perfect wireframes, it looks too finished :-).
Feel free to to ask for more support.
