[bug] Selecting Startup and Shutdown freezes System Settings

I have installed KDE Plasma 5.12.9 on my Ubuntu 18.04 installation via sudo apt install kde-full sudo apt install kubuntu-desktop.

Problem is, whenever I click on Startup and Shutdown in System Settings, the whole settings window hangs up in an endless loading. Needless to say, this is pretty annoying as I can't configure my startup apps and can't adjust the login screen.

I'm not sure how to debug this problem, and how to solve it. Could you guys help me out?
Code: Select all
System info:

KDE Plasma version: 5.12.9
KDE Frameworks version: 5.47.0
QT version: 5.9.5
Kernel version: 5.3.0-59-generic
OS type: 64-bit
Processors: 12 x Intel Xeon CPU E5-1650 v2 @ 3.50GHz
Memory: 15.6GiB of RAM

I strongly suggest you upgrade to 20.04 LTS first, unless you work in a corporate environment where older LTS have a reason to exist, it makes little sense to stay with such an old Plasma version.
Also, just installing the plasma shell is probably not enough, installing the "kubuntu-desktop" package will bring in all necessary dependencies

Currently running Kubuntu 20.04, Plasma 5.18.5, Frameworks 5.68.0, Qt 5.12.8, kernel 5.4.0-42
FWIW: it is always useful to state the exact Plasma version and distribution when asking questions in this forum, makes it easier for us to help ...

I would say the same, but unfortunately it is a corporate environment. i have sudo access to my workstation and have a very loose hand in what I do with it, but has to stick with 18.04.

Ops sorry, I installed the "kubuntu-desktop" package. I was a bit confused, but I chose the most complete package, so it must've been this one.

Well, "kde-full" installs the KDE applications, while "kubuntu-desktop" installs Plasma, if you want to have both you will probably have to install both

well I sudo apt install-ed both, and now the whole system settings just crashes.

KCrash generates this report:

Please try with a new user, there is very likely something wrong in your installation.
