SDDM Background Image [SOLVED]

Sat Feb 04, 2017 2:25 pm
Before 5.9.0 you could set your own background image for the SDDM login screen. You did this in System Settings>Startup and Shutdown>SDDM

On the right hand side you could set a background image of your own. You can still do it, but it does not stick.

I found the file "/usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze/theme.conf" and changed it to:

Code: Select all
[General]
type=background
color=
background=sddm.jpg

It got rid of the blue colour, but does not show the image. I put the image in the same folder as theme.conf

Is there an easier way to do this?

Why does it not show the image?

I have modified the breeze theme
/usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze
theme.conf
Code: Select all
[General]
type=image
background=

theme.conf.user
Code: Select all
[General]
background=anatomy-mars-rover-merl.jpg

this works

Thanks. Looks like I was close.

Will try it tomorrow morning. I assume your image is also in the same folder?

EDIT: Worked fine.

Bug 370521 - [Regresion] SDDM breeze theme unable to change backgound: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=370521

The Breeze SDDM theme (5.9) is expecting 'type=color' or 'type=image' key in the /usr/share/sddm/themes/breeze/theme.conf.user

Workaround:
User can add the missing key to the theme.conf.user.

Examples:
