Neon's version of digikam - could it support videos?

It seems that the version of Digikam included in Neon doesn't support video files (neither thumbnails or playing), which DigiKam 6.1 is really pushing.

Video and images really go hand-in-hand now days, so I was wondering if Neon could include the version of DigiKam with the compile time flag for multimedia support enabled?

Currently, it seems a challenging workaround might be possible using a flatpack or an AppImage - although I'm not sure how... and I would really love to have this supported 'out-of-the-box'. Anybody know who decides which flags are enabled for software in the Neon suite, and if they could be influenced on this?

Thanks

just uninstall your current digikam and install the new one. use the second command on the below page, and grab the 6.1 appimage from the second page below.

It is probably worth a bug report against Neon's packaging, as a request to enable the optional feature.
I have no clue as to which section this would go in, though.

They usually compile the software as it is provided by the developers, and there may be a reason that Digikam themselves don't have it on by default. If no one mentions it to them, Neon devs might never notice this, so it is worth a poke.
