KDE Neon Problem with DwHelper

Fri Nov 06, 2020 3:22 pm
Hello,
I can not use DwHelper in KDE neon. In Firefox I added dwhelper, but to show the youtube-video dwhelper needs a helper-program called
"net.downloadhelper.coapp-1.5.0-1_amd64.deb". KDE-Discover refuses to install this program as it has not a signed package source.
This problem does not exist with Kubuntu. What can I do?

Use dpkg on the command line to install it, or see what any errors may turn up.
Open Dolphin to the same dir as the file, hit f4 to toggle a terminal, and type:
sudo dpkg -i nameofdeb.deb

in both cases the file was not found.

I used: sudo apt install net.downloadhelper.coapp-1.5.0-1_amd64.deb
and: sudo dpkg -i nameofdeb.deb
both from the Downloads dir

Both of your commands are incorrect, the apt install command needs the name of a package, not the name of a file. The dpkg command needs the actual name of a file, the nameofdeb.deb needs to be replaced with the actual name of the deb file, try instead (from the Download directory or whichever directory the file is in, otherwise it will not be found):
Code: Select all
sudo dpkg -i net.downloadhelper.coapp-1.5.0-1_amd64.deb

Currently using KDE Neon 5.20.1 and 5.17.5 (run Windows 10 in a VM); migrated from Linux Mint 17.3
