Hello,

after update my KDE NEon LTS version to 5.24 i could setup my fingerprint with succsess but i does not work on lockscreen and also not in a console.
I run sudo pam-auth-update and see that everything regarding the fingerprint auth is setup but i did not get the opportunity to unlock via fingerprint ...is there something i miss or does anyone get it to work? I see that login with fingerprint is not possible right now but i have the hope that it might be work for lockscreen and console.

best regards

i am having the same issue. did you ever try to set up the scanner manually before 5.24 launched? i did and am wondering if i changed a setting or installed something that is blocking me now.

1. install libpam-fprintd
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install libpam-fprintd

2. then add fingerprints via kde user settings
3. allow auth with fingerprint:
Code: Select all
sudo pam-auth-update

4. add strings in /etc/pam.d/sddm
Code: Select all
auth    sufficient      pam_unix.so try_first_pass likeauth nullok
auth    sufficient      pam_fprintd.so

before @include common-auth

Works on my laptop.

this took care of it for me! from lock i have to click the login arrow to get the fingerprint prompt (edit all i have to do is hit enter actually!) but it's pretty seamless. thank you!

It works to enable fingerprint to authenticate on lock screen, but I cannot enter with my password anymore? Any idea on how to enable both methods ?

Edit: When I try to authenticate on lock screen with my passwords, the error message "Failed attemp" (don't know if it's this exact text, I use spanish version) shows, and also shows the hint to use fingerprint to authenticate, but after trying again with the password, althought the "failed attemp" error shows again, I can finally enter. How can this be fixed to accept both methods and no show an error message on a valid attempt?

Yes, there is a problem. You should try to use fingerprint trice and after third unsuccessful fingerprint attempt while the password filed is still active you should enter password.
