So, last night I was removing a lot of software that I didn't need. Stuff like Bluetooth, the printer manager, Okular, the screen zooming tool, etc. Well, after restarting my computer, I noticed a lot more things were uninstalled then I was hoping for. Kate was missing, Konqueror was gone (:-S)...it was messy. So now I'm sitting here missing a lot of the applications because, I assume, they were removed because they were packed with one or more of the applications I got rid of.

So, now I'm sitting here wondering how to get it all back. Do I need to reinstall KDE?

Depending on what distribution you use you can install a minimal KDE installation (probably called kde4-minimal, or kde4-base) and add the applications (Kate, Konqueror) you want manually. Are you still able to log into your KDE environment?

A lot of software have shared dependencies, mostly libraries, if you uninstall those a lot of applications you want to keep might be removed in the process, as collateral damage.
