[SOLVED] Keyboard stopped working

Thu Feb 05, 2009 10:02 am
I logged in this morning, had got up at 7 to finish a document, and my keyboard had stopped working once I had logged on.

The mouse still worked so I logged out again. In the KDE screen I could type my password, but after logging on it was dead again: not even CapsLock worked.

Logging on as root gave no problems, so I renamed my .kde4 folder and lo and behold, it worked again. Of course, this cost me about 45 minutes of my precious time....

I use KDE4 on Arch, with X using hotplug and keyboard definition in KDE is evdev.

I find it scary that this happens and can apparently be caused by an issue in the profile, especially since it worked last night and nothing had changed in between....

Any ideas where to look? What may be the cause?

[SOLVED] Keyboard stopped working

Alright, this is one for history:

After googling around I found another guy who had had the same issue, and who had found out that the 'Slow Keys' had been enabled for some deity-forsaken reason.

Restored my old profile, and yeah, bingo.

This is almost a bug. How can it be that I get no notification whatsoever, and find myself with an unresponsive keyboard??

Please devs, create some systray icon to indicate whenever an accessibility feature is activated. It would have saved my morning....
