Using Eigen on a commercial license

Mon Oct 16, 2017 3:52 pm
Hello,

We use Eigen in an SDK that we're distributing. We follow the rules for MPL2 when se do so. However, a big client wants to use our software but they refuse to use any software with open source dependencies including anything licensed under MPL. We are wondering if we need to completely replace Eigen, or if can we license Eigen under a paid commercial license for this use. I've seen no mention of a commercial license but we hope this is an option.

Thanks

Sorry but there is no commercial License and given that there are hundreds of contributors this wont happen. But I don't really understand why they would refuse MPL that is very flexible and that has nothing to do with LGPL/GPL licenses (those two, even LGPL, are indeed problematic). Just out of curiosity, would they refuse code with the BSD license too?

Ok thanks. Yes I was surprised too they were putting MPL in this category. They don't reject BSD code. We are trying to get them to review this policy.
