Surprisely, I didn't find another thread specifically about this.

I love mouse gestures since Opera browser introduced it long long time ago. I was pretty happy when KDE 3 allowed me to use mouse gestures in konqueror for navigating into folders using the mouse gestures.

But KDE 4 no longer support it and I would like the developers to reevaluate the possibility to have it back. I would be much happier if I could use gestures in Dolphin and Konqueror on KDE 4 and other tabbed applications such as source editors where I could use some gestures for closing or alternating tabs, for instance.

Konqueror has mouse gestures. You have to look under input actions.
But I agree that other KDE apps should have it to; even though I don't use them and don't find them useful.

Primoz, maybe you are just not used to it. Mouse gestures really didn't call my attention at first, when I read about it. But when I noted how my friend used it on Opera several years ago, I finally understood why it was so cool. Combined with tabbed pages, it really makes web surfing a lot faster. Maybe you should try it a bit more for moving pages back and forward, closing tabs, opening new ones, open link in new tab (foreground and background), stop loading, refreshing, upping a level or alternating tabs. I would advise you to try in Opera who has alwas had a very good implementation on mouse gestures. I've used a lot other implementation such as KDE's one, and the plugins for Firefox and IE (at work). Opera's implementation always work while other doesn't work very well at some circunstances. You will see how much time you save by "right click press, back, release" instead of clicking on back arrow or pressing "alt + left arrow" on keyboard. But maybe it doesn't help you. But I suggest you give it one more try ;)

Well to be honest I didn't give even one try :D
So yeah I'll try it once. Or maybe I tried it and nothing happened :D Not sure...

I remember seeing them in KDE4.2.1 but now they're gone.
Strange.
Well any way I think that idea should gove way beyond just mouse-gestures for konqueror and be implemented system wide.
Don't really know how but still.
Something in likes of doing a circle with your mouse would get you to the next desktop; even though pushing your pointer over the "edge" of the screen is much easier.
Or starting effects with it or something...

i'd like to configure my gestures application wise, since i'd like to have a certain gesture to cause different things in different applications (gesture down = new tab (konq), new folder (dolphin), etc.)

This was possible in KDE 3.5.x using "Conditions".
Hopefully KDE4 will get mouse gestures in the near future.

Mouse Gestures are called "Mouse Actions" and are available from "Input Actions" in "System Settings" in KDE Trunk.

I was playing with those effects yesterday night, but couldn't understand this edge thing. How can I activate the edge behaviour. In KDE translation to brazilian portuguese, it is stated that I should move the mouse to the edge, but nothing happened doing that (thankfully). What does "pushing" the pointer over the edge mean?
