This would be very good indeed.
I searched in the KDE4.3 feature plan and I only find that : IN PROGRESS : screensavers : port to wallpaper packages But this doesn't really means that we will be able to use screensavers as wallpaper does it ? |

^^ I think it does, actually.
Something else I would find interesting: allowing us to use the new Video applet as an activity. It would greatly ease the process of using video files for a background (other people have done this in both Gnome and KDE 3, but the method is so obscure I'd rather re-install Gentoo).

I recall someone saying a while back that using videos as wallpapers was planned.

The ability to set videos as wallpapers is indeed something that I like. I remember having done this partly using the CLI mplayer, but it went blue for all kwin effects over it. For example, the panel seemed blue while the rest of the screen showed the video. But I can say that it is my GPU that is responsible.

This would make desktop very interesting and we have hundreds of screensavers.
