i don't know why from kde 4.0 till now, the "Places" view in dolphin is not changed. there only ONE little change that could improve the usability of this powerfull view: and it is the grouping of the various elements. Let me explain better with this image:

on the left, the current version of dolphin.

on the right, there is my idea.

And just a suggestion - imageshack insists on a bunch of java code and a load of pop-ups come up. It is most uncomfortable for the viewer. Perhaps you would like to try www.omploader.org - an image hosting service which is just that: simply and no hidden baggage

Create a new type of places, means "separator", would solve the OP's problem.

Hi, i submitted my idea to bugs.kde.org 2 mounths ago, but no-one taked in charge this ticket.

i don't think that my mock up is a bad idea, and with the last svn of kde, nothing has changed. also, the 4.3 release is close.

it's sad to see that kde community stranger's ideas aren't taken in consideration

Unfortunately due to the high numbers of bug reports reported, it is quite possible your idea simply hasn't yet been reached by a developer. Developers tend to prioritise fixing crashers then other bugs over implementing feature requests.
