I have searched through the forum and could not find an answer for this question.
Is there a way to the desktop effects (native not compiz) to use a mouse button for the cube? In compiz I can set a mouse button to initiate the cube, I have not been able to do that for the native cube. Should I put this as a feature request, or is there someway I just have thought of or stumble across yet? Thanks.

Did you find a solution? I'd really like to bind the mouse's scroll wheel to the zoom function.

It is not an option. And don't bother making a feature request, there are already many feature requests for things like this going back over 9 years. I love KDE but this is my biggest pet peeve with with it, their terrible support for input devices, mice in particular. Ignoring using mice in shortcuts, it even lacks support for essentially universal mouse features like back/forward buttons. Here is a small sampling of the still-open bug reports (and take a look at all the closed duplicates):

Impressive list. It would be pretty simple to hack something together just for KWin but then its GUI will behave different than every other KDE application. To do this properly the change is not trivial and is the reason why nobody wants to do it.

OK, thanks. I was just curious about it. I thought I might be missing something.

Me too. I'm looking into doing it via Xmodmap, but no luck yet. |

Here's another mouse button bug (Mouse wheel scrolls by setting doesn't work): https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=291144 |
