how I can set up different background for virtual desktops? It was very nice and userful feature in 3.x, but in 4.2 I cannot do this.

Currently it is not possible to link "Containments" and "Virtual Desktops" together easily. Once this is possible, then you will be able to configure each containment seperately to provide the feature you are after. KDE 4.2 is capable of doing this in an experimental manner however, so please see this thread: linking-activities ... 19397.html
