@szon One of the good points of FolderView is simplicity. We also would loose features like posibility to iconofy.

I fear this will make things more confusing, esp. with larger "almost classical desktop like" folderviews: We'll then have virtual desktops, activities and folderview tabs which all change the set of plamoids, applications or displayed icons on the desktop in different ways. To me the situation even now is too complicted, and I think we should simplify this mess before we add new features.

I think it's a great idea. I work out of the same 3-4 folders daily. Having them readily available in a tabbed folderview would be perfect for me.
As for simplicity, there's nothing terribly complicated about using tabs. I think most users have become accustomed to them in their browsers by now. If you leave folderview as a single window by default, then only those users who want to enable/add tabs will do so. |

If set to display only one folder the there wouldn't be a "tab-bar" I assume? So then it would be exactly the same as todays folderview. All the complexity would be hidden in the settings planel of the plasmoid until we wish to use it. Thats the way I invision this idea, anyway. I think it's a great idea. |

I like it: users that don't want/use it won't notice the difference, and (advanced) users will be able to use it to their own liking.

I agree. I don't see what the big problem is with optional complexity that users do not have to deal with if they do not want to.

I believe this is a good idea worth implementing.

This could always be implemented as a separate plasmoid if there is really that big of a problem including it in the normal folderview.

What about an tabber plasmoid, that can embbed various plasmoids into one?

nice idea, but not OK for this solution, because with tabber plasmoid we'd have 2 title rows, ant it is a waste of space. Might as tabber behavior (each tab as different set of settings)? |

Very nice and useful. I think tabs exists to help us, anyway, since economizing energy, time and patience... I don't like windows and (MS) windows.

You can do this with the grouping desktop.
