This should not only be input device (mouse & keyboard) dependent;
detect e.g. audio and video activity via Phonon / Solid.

So if there is no input activity and no audio/video activitiy and no active program set to prevent hibernation, then start the suspend/hibernate countdown timer.

For example:
- Check if the soundcard is playing anything (via Phonon) ==> Allow Screensaver / DPMS, but not suspend/hibernate.
- Check if the videocard is displaying a video. ==> No Screensaver, do not suspend/hibernate

Should be as easy as on my girlfriends macbook, where i don't have to deal with that. ;-)

For the best KDE ever.

This idea is similar to [Powerdevil] Integrate video with power settings (don't dim) but also includes audio, so I'll leave it open.

Interesting idea. It is related to other ideas here (I'm looking at them just now), but it definitely has a different approach that I quite like. I'll bring this to the table

This idea has my vote. It's very rational and seems easy enough to implement.
