I have a vanilla KDE 4.1.3 install on Arch.
In systemsettings, under "Keyboard & Mouse" there used to be three tabs. One was on the "keyboard" (rate, repeat, etc.), another on the "mouse" (left-hand/right-hand, etc.) and a third on "keyboard shortcuts". This afternoon, I noticed that the first one, "keyboard", is missing -- only "Mouse" and "Keyboard Shortcuts" remain. I tried to make a new user with no .kde directory, but on login, that option is still missing. Any ideas?

I have the same two modules listed from the output of 'kcmshell4 --list' however I have 5 sections: Keyboard, Mouse, Joystick, Standard Keyboard Shortcuts, Global Keyboard Shortcuts.

Well, I did that and it didn't seem to work . I'll wait to see what happens when KDE 4.2 is released. Meanwhile, my main concern is that I couldn't enable keyboard repeat. So I decided to just go through configuration files, the relevant one being ~/.kde4/share/config/kcminputrc Well, that has:
in it. Odd. I ran kcminit and, voila, keyboard repeat works again. Except that occasionally, and for no apparenty reason, it stops working and I have to run it again. Can you think of any reason for this? Also, I was wondering if someone with 5 sections in the Keyboard&Mouse section could post their kcminputrc so I can see if I'm missing something that would cause those sections to not appear.

I am looking for a way to remap the keyboard, as I always remap the cap_lock and ctl and put them where they should be! In older KDE flavours I could do this...but with this latest Kubutu setup, I can't, and I am guessing someone left out the keyboardconfig thingie.
As the Xorg setup has also changed, I can't simply go and fiddle with it there, either. Any ideas? ttyl Farrell |
