Hi,
I got a feature suggestion/wish for the task manager widget. It would be nice if the task manager grouped the tasks in some sort of tab per virtual desktop. Tasks from the current desktop would be shown in full while the tabs for the other desktops would only show the icons for the tasks on that desktop. Clicking on one of the tabs from a non-active desktop would open that desktop, expand those icons and contract to previous open desktop tab to just icons. What do you think? Cheers, Beau

Hi,
Thanks for the link. The textless mode like they have in OSX and Win7 etc solves the clutter problem when you have a lot of windows but it's a trade off. The problem with the current taskbar is that you have to chose between showing all apps or only the ones from the current desktop. -When showing all apps, you can not distinguish what apps are on which desktop and the taskbar gets very cluttered. -When showing only those from the active desktop you lose track of what apps are open and on what desktop. My proposal would solve these things. Textless mode would remove the clutter and the tabs/groups would make it clear what app is on what desktop. When you use virtual desktops, the number of apps per desktop should not be so high as when using only one desktop so it should be possible to retain the text for the apps from the active desktop. To make managing the desktops even better you could make it possible to drag icons/apps from tab to tab to place them on another virtual desktop. P.S. Is this the right forum to discuss this? |
