KSnapshot is a solid program, but kind of clunky if I just want to really quickly send a screenshot to someone. Therefore, I'd rather be able to just call KSnapshot as a resource from the locations where I'm likely to want to use a screenshot (Kopete, KMail, in a web forum) rather than go to KSnapshot first and than bother dealing with file dialogues to find the newly saved image.

So can a send-screenshot feature be implemented into Kopete? Either a user-defined region or a 5-second delay full-screen shot would probably cover all the bases.

Or, if it were possible to upload screenshots to the web and get a direct URL to the image from inside of KSnapshot then it would be easy to copy-paste that URL where it was needed. It could work for imagehosts like Imageshack, but it should also work with private web-servers too. What I mean is allow KSnapshot upload to, for instance, ftp://myaccount@mysite.com/httpdocs/images/ and return http://mysite.com/images/theimage.png as the public link.

The idea outlined in your last paragraph was suggested last week, but that thread has been wrongly marked as implemented.
