Hi people,
I think a good idea can be to implement in dolphin and konqueror (and in folder view?) the action to send a file by email via context menu.
Example:
right click on file(s) and in context menu I find the action "send to email..."

Little idea for a better usability.

What do you think?

Konqueror has this feature in menu and I think it should be ported to Dolphin as well. But on Dolphin it is enough just to email the file itself and not the link too. Even that konqueror is the choice for the power user for filemanagement as well, this is something what should be easy to do from Dolphin so it is not needed to go trough Kmail to send file as Email Attachment.

Couldn't you create a simple servicemenu?

I think this feature should be ported to Dolphin and extended in context menu. But unlike konqueror without link.

There are lots of such service menus but what is needed is the real function to the Dolphin menu and toolbar (and sidepanel) as well. Not just to context. Konqueror has this feature (at least in 3.x series) what made it a very good filemanager when you could just select the file(s) and click from toolbar "send as email attachment". Very easy and intuitive. But service menu does not offer such things.

There is already an idea for an actions panel. I am not sure what we would gain from having it in the menu or toolbar. Feel free to make a separate brainstorm idea for such a thing being in the toolbar, but I think having it in the right-click menu is sufficient. We can't put every imaginable function someone might want in the toolbar, that is what we have service menus for in the first place.

It does not mean you need to have it in toolbar default. Just that you can add it to the toolbar if wanted. You should know that there are dozens of functions what you can place to toolbar, without them being in context menu or even menu.

The menubar is not made because we do not have space in toolbar, but because you can get logical groups of the tasks. Toolbar is not groupped, even that you have separators there. But the idea is totally different.

And context menu should be very clear and simple. Like right now when user right click the file, he gets many options. We can not add every possible function there as well. Not even to "Actions" sub-menu. And right now, user can copy, cut, paste files by five! different ways. 1) Shortcuts 2) from menu 3) from toolbar 4) from context menu 5) drag and drop.

Fastest way to have most used features is to place them to toolbar. Remove all functions what are not needed. And soon you have space and only critical functions in toolbar. Such can be removed like the three view options. Basic user does not change view all the time. There simply is no need. But even basic user sends files in email or by IM. Was it then a family photo from birthday or from holiday.
