Hi,
The other day I added a user to my home PC for use with Japanese language and KDE. I need to be able to change keyboard input to write japanese. I had to change manual settings in user's home and add some packages (mainly ibus/scim and anthy for japanese specifics). Basically it would be the same for chinese/korean and possibly others non alphabetical languages. I think all this settings should be a part of KDE as we can choose language display we should have as well ability to write this language which as far as I know not included. There should be some options in input settings > keyboard or directly in localization for all languages. We then need to have ibus and scim dependencies. However still we need some gnome stuff, I am using gentoo and try to compile with gconf and have this problem : http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-67 ... 0d9076c276 This should be fixed by adding a Qt interface. |

I think I understand what you are saying...let me try. If a user wants to change the language to something else that they prefer; they should be able to go to Systems Settings --> Locale --> Country/Region & Language, [Languages Tab] --> Preferred Languages, and select the language that they prefer, and KDE should change the user's "Look and Feel" (inputs, language, fonts, characters/page layout) based on the user's choice. This should also affect other apps, such as Libre Office, Firefox, VLC, etc. Am I correct? 1-Click, auto changes all?
If so, I also would like this feature added to KDE. I would like to be able to add an account for my girlfriend on my computers and easily switch them to Chinese for her use. This would be great if this feature is available for Plasma Active as well. You have my vote. See. |

The topic you mention is exactly the same thing but it looks like it is not moving forward ...
Is short it is to have the hability to write with non roman alphabet chars. Any plan to add this feature ? |

Please be patient when it comes to developers implementing ideas, I am currently in a discussion with KDE developers trying to improve this.
