Hi!

Nice work with kde4 - I have installed it by accident a week ago, went through some frustrating times while configuring it, but now it is growing on me.

One of the things that bother me most is the Kickoff menu. Navigating it is very cumbersome. On the other hand, Classic menu is ugly and lacks some features (no System Settings, no search).

Why not change Kickoff (or add another style - KickClassic? ) style to provide better navigation while keeping the functionality?

I have prepared an image, but I don't know how to post it to this forum - I have uploaded it to mediafire:

It would probably be easier to change classic menu to add the functionality of kicker than reverse, I guess?

Well there is a third menu - Lancelot and a fourth menu - Raptor.
But If I understand correctly you wish a similar menu as it's in Vista?

As near as I can tell, it was designed to be cumbersome. Apparently the awkwardness makes is "usable".

Anyway;
I think you've missed the main point of my post, which could be my fault. But your post actually is a duplicate of another already proposed idea, which is vague, but the mock-up it provides is exactly what you wish.

Anyway if it were only up to me I would merge your idea with the original one; but we as the whole brainstorm team has not reach an conclusion yet on how to deal with dupes...
I'll keep you posted.
