Maybe this is already possible, but when I resize (or move) an application window which has direct contact with another window it would often be useful if the borders would stick to each other. So while other grows the other shrinks. Of course some modification key would be needed (or just right click drag).
Taking idea further, I also would like feature similar to Qt's (and others) layout manager for applications (I'm sure at least developers will understand). So in a hypothetical "application grid" manager I could draw grid (for example 2X2) and select programs which are run in each cell (possibly spawning over several columns for example) and for which columns and rows are extra space given. These grids could be launched like regular programs (so with one click, I could start setup I often use). Default size and positioning would be needed also. Empty template grids would be good, so the user can select programs and say things like (maybe by selecting programs in task manager, by keyboard shortcut or by some kwin magic.): -arrange these 3 apps to a 2x2 full screen grid . One app would be given to two cells automatically. -stack these apps to left side of screen (windows 7 improved ) Selecting windows might be easy with control clicking title bars. Changing places of the applications in the grid could be done by dragging windows with some modification key pressed down (same key which is used for resizing). There is so much ideas in the forums that I just couldn't bring myself to check if similar idea is already presented. I hope it is something new. |

It seems so, though it's actually other way around, as you can see, if you look at the posting time But given that the other thread has already got more exposure, I think we should just vote this down and continue on other thread. However, I will link this to the other thread. |
