Currently in Dolphin, if Stringi is disabled, (like if the user disabled it because they have too little RAM) The search field in Dolphin silently fails.

My idea is to fall back on standard file searching, to only search with file attributes (like name and size), if Stringi's index is disabled.

The results will be the same as the kfind utility, only integrated in dolphin, without having a component silently fail.

What do you think?

And in the blog StefanT already posted a link to is said that this feature will be implemented for KDE 4.6.
