It would be great if notifications do not hide or minimize when mouse is over the notification.
EDIT: I deleted other 2 things from here since they have been implemented in the meanwhile. I believe that this feature would be great with 'auto hide' option enabled. This is a really simple request:)

RE: [Plasma notification] Notification should not minimize when mouse is over
Sat Apr 04, 2009 6:11 pm
This is done. Notification has a i icon in system try and if you click on it it will stay open if you click on x in notification it will close and work in background.
So only 1 is valid. If you wish you can repost this, or post a bug report on bugs.kde.org. Thank you for your idea, and keep on brainstorming!

RE: [Plasma notification] Notification should not minimize when mouse is over

Thanks for a quick reply maybe I did now explain my self well..
1. It would be great if notifications do not hide or minimize when mouse is over i do not want to click on a system tray icon to make something appear again 2. 2. It would also be great if there were some kind of button that has function to keep current notification active(on top).... current system makes allnotifications always on top, 3. If notification for some operation is hidden, notification should reappear once the operation is completed.... i do now understand how this is not valid proposal ? if for example unzip process is hidden whet it finishes it should reappear.. I believe you have dismissed my idea without reading it carefully, i know you have much on your hands.. I will try and post a bug/wish report. |

RE: [IMPLEMENTED] [Plasma notification] Notification should not minimize when mouse is over
Sat Apr 04, 2009 9:16 pm
I agree, this is certainly not implemented.
When I first logged into KDE4 I had a wall of notifications appear and then they all disappeared, as I was reading them (and not into the `i´ icon - they were just the notification-type notifications that don't require user input). And even if I'm waiting for a file to download, it would be nice if it didn't disappear if I have my mouse over it.

As far as I know, the devs aren't happy with the notifications either. I think aseigo said that they'll work on it for KDE 4.3.

Added link to 3., as OP posted a stand alone idea for it. And we prefer one idea per thread.

Is there already a method available to see those notifications which have disappeared too fast? Are they logged to a file?

Click on the "computer" in system tray.

I have "i" icon instead of computer... Also if you click on i/computer it will stay there until the end. Just to clarify.

I have the "i"-Icon too, but it stays there only on notifications with a duration (e.g. copy notifications).
Unfortunately if the notification has no duration (e.g. on error notifications) the notification and the icon disappear after approx. one second. If this is not the default behavior, what do I have to change so that the "i" icon stays until I have read the notification? |

I edited this idea, since some features requested have been implemented.
I believe that remaining feature should be easy to implement. |
