My idea is to give focus to windows/objects (and thus bring them to the foreground) not on mousebutton click but on mousebutton release. This would come *very* handy to those (like me) that makes heavy use of drag and drop. Speaking for myself I drag and drop tons of stuff from dolphin to media players and having the player window going behind dolphin the very moment I'm starting the drag operation is truly a PITA :( . Each time, I hit my face on this and I have to start rearranging windows only to rearrange them again later in their original position and start it all over again the next time. Plus, I don't think this behaviour would give problems to anyone. If it does, it could be made an option.

This sounds like a good idea. In the meantime, you could change System Settings -> Window Behavior -> Window Actions -> Inactive Inner Window -> Left Button from "Activate, Raise, & Pass Click" to "Active & Pass Click". That way, you would have to explicitly click on the window's title bar to raise it; which is more drastic than just raising on mouse release, but might nonetheless be a better fit for your use patterns.
